A sabbat is one of the eight seasonal festivals in the modern Wheel of the Year, treated by many witches and Pagans as a ritual calendar rather than a rulebook.
Use it as a quick date check, then place the result back in the wider Wheel of the Year and the lunar rhythm of esbats. Southern Hemisphere dates are flipped so the season matches the ground under your feet.
How the dates are decided
The four cross-quarter festivals use the traditional calendar dates most practitioners observe: Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh, and Samhain stay fixed to their usual date ranges. The solstices and equinoxes are astronomical events, so Yule, Ostara, Litha, and Mabon can move within a small two or three day window by year and timezone. This tool computes those four solar points from the sun's position instead of storing a yearly table. Some practitioners time the cross-quarter festivals astronomically too, when the sun reaches 15 deg of the fixed signs. That convention is described here but not computed in this version.

The Wheel of the Year is a modern practice calendar built from older seasonal festivals. Dates mark traditional observances, not claims about what the day will do.
